“Footy always finds a way.”

McLachlan said players’ family members and “top-up” players who make their way to Queensland would be subject to a strict 14-day quarantine period.

“This is a clear plan that makes Queensland the base and provides greater certainly for everyone.”

McLachlan stressed this move applies to the 17-game home-and-away season and any decisions about the location of the grand final would need to wait.

“There is no decision to make about the grand final. This is a decision about the home-and-away season,” he said.

“We’re not talking about that today.”
