Air pistol pointed at mugging victim’s head on Laurier Avenue East, police say

Police arrested a 23-year-old suspect and seized an air pistol, but two others fled in a reported early-morning mugging in Sandy Hill in which the weapon is alleged to have been pointed at the victim’s head.

The victim had withdrawn money from a nearby ATM when he was assaulted by three men on Laurier Avenue East near King Edward Avenue at 3:30 a.m., police said.

One is alleged to have aimed the gun while the other two took the victim’s money.

Responding officers located one suspect nearby.

An Ottawa man was scheduled to appear in court Friday on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, armed robbery, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, possession of a substance and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
