Rodney Rigby, producer of Come From Away, believes the message behind the smash-hit musical could be just the tonic Sydney audiences need next year.
Rigby says the show’s uplifting message, centred around the people of the remote town of Gander in Newfoundland, Canada, who rushed to the aid of thousands of passengers stranded there during the 9/11 attacks on the US, will speak to Australian audiences coping with COVID.
“The entire international team of Come From Away agrees that, more so than ever, it’s an ideal show for this time,’’ he says.
“It will bring people together and will be a way to thank doctors, nurses, bus drivers – everyone doing vital jobs to help us get through, just as they did in Gander. It will provide a sense of positive drive for people coming to see the show.’’
