Coronavirus: Montreal closes dog parks, community gardens

Article content

Montreal closed all dog parks and community gardens Saturday until further notice because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement comes on top of the previously announced closing of all community centres, cultural venues, sports facilities and swimming pools, libraries, playgrounds, sports fields, museums, Access Montreal offices and other customer service counters.

However, garbage, recycling and compost pickup continue, along with other essential services like water and emergency services, and ecocentres remain open.

On Friday, Montreal declared a state of emergency. Police are stepping up patrols across the city to make sure non-essential businesses stay closed and no public gatherings take place.
