Hawthorn free agent Isaac Smith has chosen to move to Geelong, according to a source with knowledge of the player’s decision.
The triple-premiership star also had interest from Melbourne, or could have remained at Waverley.
Smith’s desire to join the Cats, who lost the grand final to Richmond, comes after GWS forward Jeremy Cameron expressed his desire to join Geelong.
The Cats have also expressed interest in securing North Melbourne veteran Shaun Higgins this trade period.
The AFL’s free agency period started on Friday.
