Man surrenders in hit-and-run collision that injured boy, 15

Ottawa police said Saturday a 19-year-old man has turned himself in in connection with a hit-and-run collision Friday night in which a 15-year-old boy was struck and injured.

Police said the collision occurred at about 8:20 p.m. in the area of Woodfield Drive and Merivale Road.

The boy who was struck was transported to CHEO. There was no word on the extent of his injuries.

This van is also believed to have been seen driving erratically through the parking lot of the Canadian Tire store located at 1820 Merivale Rd., shortly after the collision.

The suspect vehicle has been located police said.

Police continue to seek witnesses to the incident. They’re also asking anyone who might have dashcam footage of the area of Merivale and Hunt Club Drive between 8:15 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. to contact collision unit detectives at 613-236-1222, ext. 2481 or by email at collisions@ottawapolice.ca
