The Sûreté du Québec, who only described the boy as being less than 10 years old, said the child died Sunday night after being transferred to a hospital in Montreal.

The investigation of the incident concluded there was nothing the driver could have done to avoid the boy as he and a friend crossed the highway around 4:30 p.m. on Friday and there was no criminal element to the case.
