Officers Arrest Male for ABDW Following Stabbing Downtown —

At about 1:45 AM on Sunday, February 16, 2020, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a person with a knife in the area of 222 Friend Street in Boston. While enroute to the aforementioned location, officers received additional information that an individual may have been stabbed. Officers arrived on scene and observed a large group congregating around a black motor vehicle, before their attention was turned toward an adult male who was suffering from an apparent stab wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Concurrently, additional officers spoke to witnesses in the area who stated that a male suspect punched one of them in the face and stabbed one of their friends before retreating to a black motor vehicle. Officers proceeded to the black motor vehicle and observed a knife inside of the motor vehicle. The suspect was placed under arrest.

Officers arrested Kevin Pires, 30-years-old, of Cambridge. Pires is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon.
