Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help to identify a woman suspected in a $400,000 bank and identity fraud in the city’s east end.

Police released two security camera images of the suspect at the bank on March 20, 2019.

Police said a woman reported her debit card lost and identified herself using fraudulent documents to get a new one. After she was issued a new bank card, more than $400,000 was later transferred fraudulently from the account linked to the card, police said.

The suspect is described as a 35- to 40-year-old woman, approximately 5-5 with long dark hair. She has a significant scar on the left side of her face that could be covered by make-up.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Ottawa police organized fraud unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5433.
