ST. JOHN’S, N.L.—An oil platform quickly misplaced energy on Saturday, inflicting about 2,200 litres of oil to spill into the ocean southeast of St. John’s, N.L.
An announcement from Hibernia Administration and Improvement Firm says the ability outage activated a water sprinkler system.
The assertion says this brought on its waste containment drain system to overflow, sending the oil into the ocean.
The corporate says there have been no accidents and that energy has been restored, however manufacturing has stopped as an oil spill response crew is on the scene.
The Canadian Coast Guard and the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board have been notified.
