Search scaled back for ‘much-loved’ man missing in Queensland waters


The land, sea and air search for a man last seen in waters off the central Queensland coast has been scaled back after a second unsuccessful day.

Dysart man Gary Flower, 60, went missing early Tuesday morning while attempting to reach his boat drifting near Conical Rocks, off the coast of Yeppoon.

His family issued a heartfelt thank you to the search and rescue personnel involved in scouring a 428-square-kilometre area for the “much-loved” man, police said in a statement issued on Thursday afternoon.

Water police will resume search efforts on Friday with shoreline and beach patrols.
