Speed restrictions between are in place on SH1 between Pukerua Bay and Paekakariki for seawall repairs.

Drivers travelling between the Kāpiti Coast and Wellington are facing more delays with another round of repairs on State Highway 1.

The speed limit between Pukerua Bay and Paekakariki was lowered on June 1 so work could begin on fixing a seawall.

Traffic control workers will manage vehicles travelling through the area, with a speed limit of 30kmh between Sunday and Thursday nights from 7pm to 5.30am. Traffic will be restricted to 60kmh outside these times.

Regular travellers between Kāpiti Coast and the capital will be used to delays with repair work having been underway on the Kāpiti Expressway since last year.

The New Zealand Transport Agency has advised travellers to allow for extra time to pass through the works.

The repairs are expected to conclude on August 7.

During night works, cyclists and pedestrians will be escorted through the works site.

Further north, work has been ongoing to repair over 20 kilometres of road surface on the Kāpiti Expressway, causing more traffic delays.

There has also been congestion at Mackays Crossing as a result of the construction of Transmission Gully.
