A man is in custody after he struck a woman in the face causing her to fall and injure herself. The victim is being treated at the hospital for her injuries.
At 9:50 AM the 42-year-old woman was standing at the corner of 3rd Avenue and James Street waiting at the crosswalk for the signal to change. An unknown male struck her in the face, causing her to fall and strike her face on the ground. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect board a Metro bus. Officers responded and treated the victim while other officers located the suspect at 1st Avenue and Columbia Street. The suspect was arrested for the felony assault.
The victim was treated by Seattle Fire for her injuries and then later transported to Harborview Medical Center. The suspect was also treated at the hospital for an injury to his head, but will be booked into jail once he is released from the hospital.
Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
