One Less Gun: At about 12:48 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2020, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an on-site arrest and recovered a loaded firearm during a traffic stop in the area of 379 Dudley Street in Roxbury. While on patrol, officers queried a vehicle which was flagged for a missing juvenile. Officers activated their lights and sirens and initiated a traffic stop. When officers requested identification from the operator and the passenger, they noticed the passenger quickly tried to cover his lap with a bag of chips, drawing the officers’ attention to an apparent weighted object in the passenger’s front right pocket. The passenger was removed from the vehicle and within the front pocket of his pants, officers recovered a black Glock 34 firearm loaded with ten rounds of live ammunition. The passenger was taken into custody. The operator was identified and released from the scene.
Officers arrested Jamaun Coakley-Thomason, 19-years-old, of Roxbury. Coakley-Thomason is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
