Wests Tigers star Josh Reynolds has sent a defiant message to the woman who put his NRL career in jeopardy after assault charges brought against him by his ex Arabella Del Busso were today dropped by the police.
Reynolds was relieved to get to the end of a dark chapter in his life after his relationship with Del Busso turned sour when it was revealed that the 30-year-old had faked several pregnancies and fabricated other tragic life events as a way to ask Reynolds for money.
Speaking to 9News, Reynolds claimed Del Busso, who is also known by several aliases, had told him she was going to bring the NRL star and his family down.
“For me, for her, I can stand here and say to ‘Arabella,’ whatever your name is, you said to me, you’re going to bring me and my mum down. We’re still standing, we’re still here,” Reynolds said.
“That’s just a little message to you, you tried to bring me, my family, my mum down, it didn’t work. What people have to realise is, she’s done this for a job.”
While Reynolds was facing public scrutiny over explosive video footage of a confrontation he had with Del Busso, her own family and several of her exes came forward with claims that she had created several fake lives built on lies for her own financial gain.
That those lies were publicly exposed went a long way to helping Reynolds to clear his name, although it still came as a huge relief.
“I knew I was going to feel great when I got a result. I obviously can’t explain the feeling, I’ve had so many ups and downs over this last year and a bit,” Reynolds said.
To get this news today, it’s the best news I’ve had in a long time. It’s shocking and scary. I had who, ‘who knows’ living with me for however long, and that scares me.”
Reynolds cited the fabricated pregnancies as the biggest curve ball he’d had to face as a relationship that he was invested in unravelled.
“I’ve always wanted to be a dad, but that’s not to be at the moment,” he said.
“She was smart, she knew what to do. But there’s no Netflix series, there’s nothing that’s as good as her ploy. Like I said before, I feel silly. She played with my emotions, she really did.”
