We've 'landed a punch' on COVID-19 but it's 'not time to take our foot off the accelerator'

Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Nick Coatsworth says “we’ve landed a punch on COVID-19 but it’s by no means on the canvas” after reports suggested cases of COVID-19 could be in decline in New South Wales.

Dr Coatsworth attributed the decline to “the extremely strict” travel-related and quarantine measures but said it was not the time “to take our foot off the accelerator”.

“It’s important we take a trend outlook on this. These measures are unprecedented and are extremely strict but we know the majority of Australians understand.”
